Pagkain at Pag-aaral

Cellular Mitosis (Krispy Kreme)

Pfft. Pagkain na nga lang, sasamahan pa ng academic stuff. Edi ano ka na nun? Geek?

Tsk. Ano yun meron ka na ring so much hunger for knowledge? Sabagay, nakakagutom talaga ang knowledge kung ganitong eksenang matatagpuan sa study table ko.

Hay. Kung ganito nga rin lang naman na kasama ang pagkain as illustration ng bawat complicated theories, concepts or any other academic stuff, naku, learning would be really really an enjoyable and interesting and delicious experience… Gaganahan talaga ‘kong mag-aral unlike now na medyo tinatamad ako.

Wala lang. Naisip ko lang. Masarap (literally and figuratively speaking) talaga sigurong mag-aral kung ganito makikita ko lagi sa study table ko. Busog na tiyan ko, busog pa utak ko.

One Second Per Footfall

Slowly, ever so slowly, she trudges on the puddle-filled street.

Slowly, ever so slowly, her thoughts rise like the tide that goes unnoticed.

It was still early in the evening. Loud croaks of frogs break the constant silence around her. The freshness of the air after a heavy downpour wafts under her nostrils. The wind that blows away her recently cut tress is cold. She shivers and slowly, ever so slowly, she continues to walk.

The supernatural is the only natural we cannot understand.

The supernatural is the only natural we cannot understand.

The supernatural is the only natural we cannot understand.

It plays repeatedly in her head. Persisting. Ingraining. Reiterating. Convincing. A strong gust of the cool wind blows again. The brown rotten leaves of the trees that line up her path, slowly, ever so slowly, leave their branches and soar with the wind. She watched as each of the brown piece take pleasure in its short-lived flight and fall, slowly, ever so slowly, to the wet, dreary ground.

The supernatural is the only natural we cannot understand.

It has now become a mantra. She tried to berate it but failed.

Stop!

The supernatural is the only natural we cannot understand.

Cease!

The supernatural is the only natural we cannot understand.

Please!

The supernatural is the only natural we cannot understand.

The supernatural is the only natural we cannot understand.

Oh, God! I plead You to make it stop! I plead You!

Wisss. Wisss.

Silence. Complete silence except the crickets’ singing and the soft scrunching noise of her slippers as she still walks slowly, ever so slowly.

She understood slowly, ever so slowly.

What Makes an Educated Man?

A truly educated person, first and foremost, respects other individuals. He also respects himself; because he knows that to be respected, one must respect his own self first. He respects other entities’ worth and, just because he went to some school and finished a degree, does not consider his worth as superior to other people. In the first place, the amount of knowledge that a person possesses – no matter how numerous books he have read and abundant sources of information he have come upon – is not the sole criterion for considering his worth, but more importantly, it is his character that determines his worth as a person. The fact that an educated person knows it and he strives to put his character under the good category is enough to make him a truly educated person.

Another characteristic of a truly educated person is that he does not brag about what he knows. He is humble to accept the truth that there are things he is not aware of and because of that awareness, he continues to seek and acquire knowledge. He is also unselfish. He does not keep the knowledge he possess to himself but instead, continue reading
